Whenever you add a domain name as hosted in some account, you typically set a pair of Name Servers to direct it to that particular company. On their end, three records are created automatically as soon as the domain is added - one A record and two MX records. The first one is a numeric address, or IP address, that “tells” the domain name where its website is, while the other two are alphanumeric and they show the server that manages the e-mails for that particular domain address. The site and the email hosting are generally thought to be one thing, when they are in fact two different services. Having independent records for them will enable you to have them with different providers if you wish. For example, some new provider may have fantastic uptime for your website, but you might not want to switch your e-mail messages from your current host and by employing an A record to point the Internet domain to the first and MX records to have the emails with the second, you will get the best of both providers. These records are checked when you wish to open a website or send an e-mail - in any case, the provider whose name servers are used for the domain is going to be contacted to retrieve the A and MX records and if you have set records different from their own, the correct web/mail server will then be contacted and you will see the needed site or your e-mail is going to be delivered.

Custom MX and A Records in Cloud Hosting

If you have a cloud hosting account through our company and you wish to point either your site or your e-mails to another service provider, it is going to take you literally just 2 clicks to do so. Our Hepsia Control Panel offers an easy-to-use DNS Records tool, where all your domain names and subdomains will be listed alphabetically and you will be able to see and change the A and/or MX records for any of them. If you want to use a different e-mail provider and they ask you to set up more MX records than the standard 2, it won't take more than a couple of mouse clicks either to add them. You may also set different latency for these records and the lower the latency, the higher the priority a particular MX record is going to have. The propagation of any record that you modify or set up won't take more than a few hours and if needed, you'll also be able to set the so-called Time-To-Live value, that indicates how long a record will stay active after it's changed or deleted.

Custom MX and A Records in Semi-dedicated Servers

The Hepsia CP, which you will get to handle the account, provides an advanced, though easy-to-use tool in which all hosts are going to be listed in alphabetical order and you're going to be able to edit their records with no more than a few clicks. If you have to set up a new record, it will be just as easy - select the domain/subdomain, type in the IP address or mail server record and you'll be all set. You will also be able to set different priority for the MX records which you create in case you want to use a third-party email provider and they ask you to create additional records besides the two default ones.
